“Hey, have you not heard the scuttlebutt?
(Your butt?) No, the gossip, the buzz The who-said-what-who-does-that, yeah, the scuttlebutt!”Scuttlebutt is the Information hub for the event. It is also a gathering space to escape the elements, converse with your fellow pirates, or just relax. This is an ADA accessible position
Duties: The role of the Scuttlebutt volunteer is to act as a kind of host and answer general questions. If you cannot answer the question yourself, then you will use the radio to find someone who can. The ideal Scuttlebutt volunteer will be sociable and outgoing, as they are required to communicate with anyone who comes in
- Offer refreshments
- Answer questions about the Event
- Assist in locating encampments on the Map and providing directions
- Help the heralds with announcements
- Maintain announcement board – write announcements, explain the map and the schedules.
- Monitor ballot box for Defender of Nassau, and any other elections/Judging
- Maintain Lost and Found
Requirements:
- Customer Service Skill
- Be respectful to all Diversities
- Familiarity with Site Locations/land marks
- Legible handwriting
- Able to sit for long periods of time
- Maintain Radio Etiquette
- Must not show up inebriated to shift! (Scuttlebutt Lead can/will dismiss you and you will not be paid for your volunteer shift. The incident will be logged with the Volunteer Coordinator. If your shift was part of Land Grant hours, the Land Stewart will be made aware.
