The Legacy Bay Inn is the social and Information gathering hub for the event. They hold staff meet and greets and have informal social gatherings for the enrichment of our Nation. It is also a gathering space to escape the elements, converse with your fellow pirates, play games at the Sterling Casino, or just relax.
The role of the Legacy Bay Inn volunteer is to act as a kind of host and answer general questions about the Event, and assist in pointing folks in the right direction. If you cannot answer the question yourself, then you will use the radio to find someone who can. The ideal Inn volunteer will be sociable and outgoing, as they are required to communicate with anyone who comes in.
There 6 different Volunteer Positions at the Inn;
- Servers (Serve light snacks and drinks to people in the Inn),
- Bouncer (Check IDs at the door for Casino Night),
- Dealer (Deal Blackjack or Poker – ADA position),
- Gamemaster (Set up & Tear down of games),
- Guide (Helps people find Camps/ships/merchants),
- Spy (provide Event Information – ADA position)
Duties:
- Offer refreshments
- Answer questions about the Event
- Assist in locating encampments on the Map and providing directions
- Help with staff meet and greet events.
- Help the heralds with announcements
- Maintain announcement board – write announcements, explain the map and the schedules.
- Monitor ballot box for Defender of Nassau, and any other elections/Judging
- Maintain Lost and Found
- On Casino Night – Deal Blackjack and Poker run by the Innkeeper. Instructions will be provided.
Requirements:
- Customer Service Skill
- Be respectful to all Diversities
- Familiarity with Site Locations/land marks
- Legible handwriting
- Able to stand/sit for long periods of time
- Maintain Radio Etiquette
- Must not show up inebriated to shift! (Scuttlebutt Lead can/will dismiss you and you will not be paid for your volunteer shift. The incident will be logged with the Volunteer Coordinator. If your shift was part of Land Grant hours, the Land Stewart will be made aware.
